FreeStyle Control Solution is to be used with FreeStyle blood glucose monitoring systems. It provides users with a quick and easy way to ensure accurate blood glucose testing and should be used to perform tests monthly, when a new vial of test strips is opened or when you suspect the meter is malfunctioning. It is a red liquid that contains a fixed amount of glucose that is used to practice testing without having to use your own blood.

To perform a control test:

1. Apply a drop of control solution on a test strip instead of blood

2. Compare the results to the control range (usually found on side of vial of test strips)

3. If results are within the normal range, the meter is functioning correctly

4. If results are outside of the range, call the manufacture of your meter immediately
